Special Santa

The Chillicothe Jaycees have run the Special Santa project for many years. The goal of Special Santa is to collect toys and raise funds to purchase toys for disadvantaged children throughout Chillicothe and Ross County. Ideally there will be a special Santa for each child who is in need of something for Christmas. Thanks to programs such as "Rock for Tots", a charity auction run each year to help raise money for organizations like Special Santa, we are able to provide many children with presents on Christmas morning. However, without the help of the public, this project would not be possible. We would like to encourage as many people as possible to take an ornament from one of the locations below this Christmas season. The Jaycees would like to thank all those who participate in this project for your help. Because of your contribution, more local children are able to wake up to a brighter Christmas morning.

How Does the Special Santa Project Work?

Children eligible for the Special Santa project make a wish list for Santa Claus.	An ornament is made for each child by the Special Santa helpers. The child's wish list is attached to the ornament.	Christmas trees are decorated at selected locations around Chillicothe with the ornaments.

Locals in Chillicothe take an ornament from the trees, buy gifts from the child's wish list, and return the ornament with the gifts to the place where they took the ornament.	The gifts are picked up by Special Santa helpers, organized by family, and then picked up by the children's parents.	The gifts are put under the family's Christmas tree on Christmas morning.
